Who says you can't take it with you. - RVing

Susan, at a southern daydreamer, is hosting Outdoor Wednesday. Click on the link to see that other great outdoor posts are offered.
It's Memorial Day weekend and we are going to the campground where we've had our RV for two years. It is a 2 hour drive from home.

There are a lot of people who are seasonal as opposed to weekenders. The season runs from April to October, however, some choose to leave their campers there over the winter for an extra fee.

The campground has a few amenities (think affordable). There is a camp store, a rec. room with pool tables and arcade games, Friday night bingo, and on holiday weekends a DJ comes in for a dance. There is a large playground in the center of the campground. Sometimes, they show outdoor movies.

The best feature is Penns Creek right along the campground. It is a wonderful stream for fishing, catching crayfish or tubing.

There is a fishing lake not too far away. Hiking and ATV trails are nearby, too. Of course, just relaxing in the hammock is nice.
Our RV has most of the comforts of home. It has a microwave, double bowl sink, large refrigerator and an eating booth, which could turn into extra sleeping area, if needed. No dishwasher or disposal. The living room has a sofa which turns into a full bed. There is a swivel rocker. There is a built in radio/tape deck. The best feature is the very large bathroom with a large shower, toilet, and sink. The bedroom has 3 wardrobes and a queen size bed. There are 2 TV hookups, gas furnace, AC, electric and water hookups. They don't have sewer hookups here, but we pay $5 to have the guy come around and dump us. We put a 24' deck on the front after this picture was taken.
The main reason we keep coming back is because my daughter and her family have an RV parked in the lot beside ours. I get to visit her and my grandchildren. Our RV is pulled in backwards. This configuration allows our awnings to face each other. We share the large area between our RV. My other daughter and her family are weekenders. They brought their pop-up.

Here is Uncle Don giving the kids watermelon.

At one point, my daughter and I went to Mifflinburg, location of the buggy museum, to go to the supermarket. This sign was at the supermarket.

Across the street is a bank which has this sign and a parking area for horse and buggy for their Amish customers.

That evening, some went to Beaver Springs Dragway to see the Jet Truck. Are you getting the contrast between the buggy and the jet truck?

I love camping. We have a very old motorhome and I love it. We go to a place just about an hour south of Yosemite and camp and fish in the summer. It is one of my favorite things to do, especially when the kids and grandkids get to come too. Happy RVing. Looks like great fun and a great place.

How nice that you and your daughters can all have a get together in an RV park. We used to have a class C RV but decided to donate it to a church after my hubby moved jobs interstate....Christine

My heart is beating so fast! I grew up in that area. Penn's Creek ran behind our house. My first through eighth grades were in the Mifflinburg Area School District. You were in my old stomping grounds!

Then we moved to Centre County...

Thanks for the pictures!

Karen, I'm so tickled at that last photograph and the contrast with the buggy signs. LOL!

I just think it would be amazing to see the Amish. I have always been fascinated with that lifestyle, and I can see myself being a part of something like that... provided some one would teach me to can, sew, weave, and cook! ;-)

Your camping looks like so much fun. My BIL and SIL have an RV, and they enjoy the freedom they have to take it camping. I think it sounds nice because I am not one who would enjoy camping in a tent. I want some of the conveniences. Contrast that with what I just said about living with the Amish. It makes perfect sense in a magpieish sort of way. LOL!

Glad you have this wonderful place to visit!

Happy Outdoor Wednesday...

XO,

Sheila :-)

This looks like such a great camping spot. I am more an RV kind of gal then tent camper. Actually I am more of an Embassy Suites camper to be honest, but this looks great to me. I love hubby kicking back in the hammock, what a perfect way to enjoy an afternoon. ~Cathy~

My hubs would love an RV. This economy isn't fulfilling that wish...but maybe someday. Looks like you had a great time!

Looks like a lot of fun, the creek is gorgeous, we have not been camping since moving to the USA, there are some really beautiful places so we are thinking about it, we haven't got an RV but they are very cool, we went to the boat and RV show it was amazing and what a wonderful way to see America.
